Jean Tokarz earned her B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Florida in 2000. She has a 19-year background in a variety of semiconductor processing methods, including thin film processing, solution processing, nanometer pattern writing, direct writing and other processing techniques. Additionally, she is skilled in ESEM/SEM characterization, Project Management, as well as providing guidance and support on developing new, innovative products.
Previously, Jean worked for a variety of High Tech start-ups, from developing QLED materials and prototypes for display, military, and recreational uses to manufacturing High Brightness Light Emitting Diodes for lighting. Additionally, Jean helped to develop an innovative lighting technology based on Plasmon Resonance. Throughout this time, Jean was a co-inventor on 10 Patent Applications, 9 of which have been allowed. Furthermore, Jean was involved in the Start-up Quest program in 2014, as well as the EWITs program in 2015, which won second place for a breast cancer detection through breath analysis.
Recently, Jean started her own Engineering and Operations consulting company to assist in the growth and development of tech start-ups in the Gainesville area. Jean aids in the marketing/networking for past and current start-ups in the Gainesville area through various mediums, including; Pitch competitions, website & social media development, as well as national/regional grant awardee representation. Her experiences and knowledge in business operations, management, and R&D allow her to contribute to a variety of areas including; business, marketing, processing, characterization, manufacturing, and testing. Jean has always been drawn to the start-up world and has a passion for discovering and sharing innovative ideas and technologies to the world around her.
